Sturm und Klang, Lettres en Voix, and Jeunesses Musicales are delighted to collaborate on an educational and artistic project endorsed by the Belgian presidency of the EU, in the context of the upcoming European elections.

This project is carried out in close collaboration with author and slam poet Julie Lombé, as well as five secondary schools from Brussels and Wallonia: Athénée Royal Jean Absil in Etterbeek, Athénée des Pagodes in Neder-over-Heembeek, Athénée Robert Catteau in Brussels, Lycée Martin V in Louvain-la-Neuve, and Institut Saint Joseph in Châtelet.

Around a hundred students aged 15 to 18 wrote texts under the guidance of Clara Inglese. These texts have been set to music by four Belgian composers: Max Charue, Gaëlle Hyernaux, Sarah Wéry, and Baudouin de Jaer.

The participating classes and Julie Lombé will share the stage at the European Parliament on May 23rd for the premiere of these new European anthems, performed by Sturm und Klang, conducted by Thomas Van Haeperen.

As Belgian youth aged 16 and older are called to vote in the European elections for the first time in 2024, this project is part of a broader initiative focused on civic reflection and action, with a clear eye on the future.
